I was just thinking how crazy it is that there isn't a topic about this considering how popular it is!
I was working/teaching at a summer camp this summer and it was fantastic watching all the kids leave the dorm in the evenings to go on walks around campus to go to Pokestops and catch Pokemon. One student even told me that last summer he was just content to sit in his room all night, but this year he's been out socializing and walking around campus, exercising. Three-fourths of the staff members even played, which I think started so many conversations with students that we wouldn't have had otherwise. It was awesome!
While I'm not as crazy as some people I have seen (such as a bunch of guys at the local park with fanny packs with external chargers inside), I've had a lot of fun with catching Pokemon. Just the other night I left the house wearing pyjamas to go to a Pokestop with my brother.
Who else plays? What team are you on? Are there any Pokemon that you haven't caught yet, but you really want? Chat away!

Re: Pokemon Go
I didn't know anything about Pokemon until Aly convinced me to download Pokemon Go and I've been obsessed with it the past few weeks! I joined Team Valor, but I don't really understand how you do the battles haha. I tried one so far and basically just watched all my pokemon die. My favorite pokemon that I have is a pidgeot named Cosima, and my second favorite is my lickitung named Kira. I don't really know what ones I hope to catch because I wasn't very familiar with pokemon before this, but I did waste like 20 pokeballs on a Haunter before it ran away so it would cool to actually catch one of those.
I have a lot of fun playing when I take my dog for walks. And there's 2 pokestops and a gym at the building I work at so that's pretty great. And I finally tried catching pokemon while I run >> it worked out pretty well because the park I run at has like 20 statues and there's a pokestop at every one!

Re: Pokemon Go
I wasn't super excited about Pokemon Go until my friend kept talking about all the people he'd met playing it, and he made it sound so fun that I had to give it a try. I've spent the past two weeks playing this game at every available moment!
I don't get out to busier areas often, so I've mostly been catching suburban Pokemon when they appear. I do live close to a bike trail with some parks and Pokestops, so I put an egg in the incubator and hike around those. Too bad the three-step system is broken at the moment, otherwise I'd be more willing to track Pokemon down. I'm not into wild goose chases when it's this hot out!
I'm Team Instinct, by the way!

Re: Pokemon Go
I play Pokemon Go but I haven't really gotten into it. I am only level three, and so far it seems to me that all you really do is log on every once in a while and see if there is a Pokemon you can catch (more often than not there's not) plus you can hatch eggs? Also, I don't really understand the 'Pokemon near you' part since the game doesn't tell you how to FIND the Pokemon near you. And my phone is a 4s and has trouble logging on and keeping up with the game.
Is there more to this game than I am aware of?
Part of my problem may be that I live in such a small town. We don't have a single stoplight
though we are one of the bigger towns around our area.

To hatch eggs, you need to have the app open as you're walking, so that's cause for opening the app more often!Leonie Hauri wrote:I play Pokemon Go but I haven't really gotten into it. The 'Pokemon near you part' is buggy right now and not working (I think?). It's supposed to have one, two, or three footsteps under it to tell you how close you are. If you're walking in the direction of a Pokemon, it will go from three footsteps to two and then to one. They really need to fix it though!
Part of the "meh" aspect might be because you live in a small-ish town. My town has a single stoplight, but it's one that just constantly blinks red. Luckily it sounds a little bigger than yours because there are Pokestops and a gym nearby. When you go to a larger town, try logging on and finding Pokestops and gyms (once you hit level 5, you can battle Pokemon there). There will probably also be more Pokemon around to catch in a larger town and that's what makes it fun (for me at least)!

Re: Pokemon Go
I was never a fan of Pokemon, but now this is such a hype, you don't have to be a real fan, lol.
My boyfriend wanted to try (not a fan either), and we went for a 5km walk the first day
haha. Since then, we're kinda addicted to the game.
It's a great way to get outside and get your daily excersize!
Since a few days, we also use the website: Pokevision. Here you can see what pokemon are where in your neighbourhood and for how long its still there.
This way we found a Slowbro of CP 963 yesterday!
We're only looking for the rarer pokemon or the ones we don't have already on that site, the rest is just get what you can get haha.
