Title: Guards Guards Author: Terry Pratchett Genre: Fantasy Series: Discworld (8) Summary: The story takes place in the Discworld univers, more specifically in the city of Ankh-Morpork, just like the last book I read, and indeed this is the first book that focuses on the City Watch. Terry Pratchett'...

Re: Rogue One - The Novelization

I definitely agree with Maxim on that one. I don't like screeenplays for exactly the reason he stated, and the times where I have read them it's felt more like a chore than a pleasure. If a story is to be transported froma movie or a theater piece, I would much prefer novelization for the task. That...

Re: Games with staying power

I played commander keen when I was young and I do think I'd like to play it again now. It is probably mainly for the nostalgia, but I also did think it was genuinely a good game with mazes for you to find your way through. I wouldn't know of course how I felt about it now, seeing that I haven't play...

Re: HOL 101 Introductions

My name is Gail Allen, I've very recently joined HOL even though I actually found out about it some years ago when friends spoke of it, but at the time I was just too busy with my education and Real-Life homework to feel I'd be able to give HOL the attention it deserved. So now that I've finished my...

Re: How Many Books Do You Read Per Year

Last year I managed 25 books. I've upped my own goal this year and I'm hoping for 30. I've just decided to start reading the outlander series, so there should be a good chance I'll reach my goal.

Outlander

I am amazed that no one has made a thread about this show yet. I've recently finished watching it and I was completely blown away. Not only is the story beautifully composed, it's also one of the most believable time-travel scenarios I've seen. It makes it seem true. And it also manages to put a lot...

Re: The Topic For Introductions!

Hello, My name is Gail Allen, and I am a Ravenclaw. I've had my eyes on HOL for a while ever since one of my best friends showed it to me, and now I finally feel I have the time to actually do something about it, so I remembered it now and thought, with September being the start of a new academic ye...
