The Llewellyns are one of the oldest known wizarding families in Wales, dating back to time before reckoning. We are an usually pure-blooded line, but have been known to marry outside the wizarding world, although for some reason, those liasons never seem to last. My father's name is Gwydion Llewellyn. In Welsh legend, Gwydion was the god of enchantment, illusion, and magic. The mythical Gwydion was known as a great wizard and bard in northern Wales, and my father was also quite famous for his songcraft and magical abilities. My mother, Annwn Creiddylad, shares her name with the Gwragedd Annwn, Welsh water faeries who live in towns and villages beneath lakes. They have an innate aptitiude for all things medicinal, and my mother was of a similar nature, being well-versed in the healing arts. It was my mother who passed down to me the hereditary shock of white hair in our otherwise dark tresses. It has been rumoured that Rowena Ravenclaw herself had a streak of white similar to our own, but that has yet to be proven. The most famous member of my family is my late brother Dai Llewellyn. Named after Dai Davies, goalkeeper of the aptly-named Welsh Wizards, a muggle football (soccer) team my father was most fond of, my brother Dai was the most sports-mad person I ever knew, excelling in Quidditch and many other non-magical sports. |
As for me, I am the youngest Llewellyn, named for Rhiannon Oset of Faery, also called Rhiannon of the Wondrous Birds. She was born with the first moonrise, and her realm was that of enchantment and charms. The name comes from the Welsh word, Rhiain, which means "maiden." My strengths thus far in my young life seem to be leaning towards the creative arts, and I am considering taking up training as a camena veneficus, or one who uses music as a magical augmentor. My hobbies include reading, cheering on the Caerphilly Catapults Quidditch team, and broomdancing.
My family hails from a small town located in Clwyd, North Wales, UK. The origins of this magical and mystical land date back many thousands of years, with ancient cromlechs, megalithic burial chambers, and mystic stonecircles, all of which I explored in my youth. I also enjoyed walking along nearby beaches or in its beautiful valleys.
Along with various resorts, parks, and gardens, my town also has a football club nick-named "The Seagulls." My brother Dai honed his Quidditch skills by playing a few seasons with The Seagulls, and, to his credit, never (well ... hardly ever) bolstered his scoring abilities via magical means.
Nearby stands the ruins of an old manor house where my family was thought to have lived in times past. Since 1287, however, our ancestral seat has been located in one of the region's castles, portions of which we are currently operating as a Bed and Breakfast, as the castle is far too big for my relatively small family!
My town is also home to one of the smaller schools of witchcraft and wizardry, open to students even younger than eleven, called Ysgol Lledrith. I attended some classes there prior to leaving for more advanced studies at HOL: Virtual Hogwarts.
