HOL Biography

Summary

Prof. Opal Dragonfly has taught at HOL since its inception. A Hufflepuff, she tries to be cordial with her students and sensitive to their multiple responsibilities, but she also is a disciplined professor and runs a "tight ship." She teaches a variety of courses. The courses may contain class discussions or not--some meet every week, some monthly; some are one term, some two term.

Timeline

May 2007: Finds a shiny piece of treasure on the floor in her office. She decides to hold onto it in case one of the champions should need it.

Positions

Currently: Professor of Harry Potter Symbolism, Magical Creatures Lore, Potable Potions I and II.

Achievements

Prof. Opal was awarded the Distinguished Service award for Longevity, Loyalty, and Excellence in Teaching in 2005. In 2006, she received the Hufflepuff House Spirit Award. She has served as a judge for different contests, including the Quad-Wizard Contest and the "The Day After" Contest. She also has been/is an OWL adjudicator for Care of Magical Creatures and Astronomy.

Personal

In real life, Prof. Opal is a retired college instructor of literature and composition courses. Her hobbies, besides reading and creative writing, are nature studies, playing the guitar and singing (not necessarily together), and various sports, such as kayaking. She loves most animals, especially dogs and horses, and she has a twenty pound cat. She's also a grandmother!
