School: Equus Manor (School for the Talented Witch or Wizard) under the supervision of Headmistress Nina Messersmith and Headmaster Josha Mitzel

Location: Equus Manor is located in the United States of America, in the secluded western state of Montana. The castle is located on a 1,000 acre parcel that is surrounded by thick trees to help seclude the castle. Select students from all over the USA can access the school by Equus airway, which is located in select cities. All planes will fly at a higher altitude than muggle planes to prevent from being seen or detected by muggle technology. All students will arrive at the Equestrian Town Center, where students can purchase all the supplies they need for the upcoming school year. A list of supplies and prices is sent home to each student during summer vacation. Parents should provide students with enough money to purchase books, supplies, clothing and food. The town center is only located a mile from Equus Manor, so horse drawn carriages will take students from the town center and to the castle.

About the School: Equus Manor is open to students ages 10-18 years of age. The school term begins on August 1st and concludes on May 31st. There are four houses, all of which take on the Equus theme.

The first house is called Akhal-Teke and its house colors are Gold and Black. The Akhal-Teke is one of the oldest surviving horse breeds that originated in Turkmenistan. Students of Akhal-Teke are clever and able to adapt to the most sever of conditions. Head of Akhal-Teke is Professor John Richtmyere who teaches Care of Magical Creatures. Professor Nina Messersmith (headmistress of Equus Manor) was associated with this house.

The second house is called Lipizzan and its house colors are White and Black. The Lipizzan originated back in the 16th century and was developed with support from the Habsburg Nobility. Students of Lipizzan are graceful and swift. Head of Lipizzan is Professor Tekla Amarillo who teaches Herbal Remedies.

The third house of Equus is called Percheron and its house colors are Grey and Black. The Percheron originated in Northern France. Students of Percheron are extremely strong and hard working. Head of Percheron is Professor Jack McGinns who teaches Potion Toxicology.

The fourth house is Trakehner and its house colors are Brown and Black. Trakehners originated back in the 13th century in East Prussia. Students of Trakehner are high in endurance and posses lively spirits. Head of Trakehner is Professor Ciara Saylor who teaches Magical Medicin I, II, III, and IV. Professor Joshua Mitzel (headmaster of Equus Manor) was associated with this house.

Each House contains a maximum of two-hundred students each semester. Students spend eight years at Equus Manor and only twenty-five students are permitted to join each house as first years. Each student is permitted to bring one animal to school. Pets can consist of Small Dogs, Cats, Birds, and Small Mammals such as mice, hamsters, gerbils, etc.

Classes: Equus Manor specializes in many areas of witchcraft and wizardry, with our most prominent being Care of Magical Creatures. All students are required to take an introduction to Witchcraft and Wizardry course, as well as Arithmacy, History of Magic, Care of Magical Creatures, Herbal Remedies, Potion Toxicology, Astronomy, and Wand use and safety. After completing the core courses, students then go on to choose a major and they begin selecting courses that relate to their area of interest.

As mentioned before, Equus Manor specializes in Care of Magical Creatures. Many of our students go on to become some of the finest Veterinaries to practice Magical Medicine. Some courses that pertain to this area of study consist of Equus Studies, Dragonology, Magical Medicine I, II, III, and IV, Creatures of the Deep, Creatures of the Air, and Creatures of the Land.

Wardrobe: All students are required to wear house colors at all times. Males must wear black slacks, a button up shirt that is their house color, a black and/or house color tie, and black dress shoes. Females must wear black skirts with black stockings, a blouse that is their house color, and black dress shoes. All students will be given a black Jacket with the Equus Manor school logo on the back and the students name and house embroidered on the front. The Equus Manor School logo consist of Two Winged Horse heads that are entwined together within a horseshoe. Students will also need to bring scarves, gloves, and boots due to the cold weather.

Sports: Like many of the other schools of witchcraft and wizardry, Quidditch is among one of the many sports offered at Equus Manor. We also have an Equestrian Team which participates in Air Polo (which is like muggle polo, only with winged horses and flying balls). Each team is made up of eight riders. The sport is offered to all students that wish to try out for the team. Winged horses will be assigned to each student and are located in the Stable along the edge of the woods. All riders must wear a certified WASH (Wizardry Associated Safety Helmet), Chaps, Knee High Boots, and house color riding pants and shirt. Practice is held twice a week after classes and there is one game scheduled every Saturday morning. Air Polo runs from September 1st-January 31stand Quidditch run from February 1st- May 31st. No students are permitted to participate in both sports in one school term. Q udditch robes will be assigned to each house team and all students should bring their own broom stick, if they do not have a broom stick, a used one will be provided.

Holidays and School Closings: All students are to return home for summer vacation on May 31st. Students are also sent home for winter Break, which is the last two weeks of December. If at anytime, the school is at threat, extreme precautions will be taken to insure that all students make it home safely if the school is unable to provide aliquant safety to its students.

#14Sakura Malfoy's AvatarSakura Malfoy (rated this 3)

nice creativity but you are missing some crutial facts, like how it can stay secluded from muggles, the actual school, and what cities will it be in? why not all major cities?
other than that, i like it a lot.

It was well structered and planned. Althought many components were similar to Hogwarts it was very well thoought out.

#19Nicola Starweller's AvatarNicola Starweller (rated this 2)

I didn't think this was very creative, there were just too many aspects of the school that mirrored Hogwarts. For instance, this school also has four houses, each with house colors- or a house color, rather, since all the houses had black as one of their colors. I also wasn't sure if this was a school for children or horses, as the adjectives used to describe them are terms like "swift," "strong," "graceful," and "high endurance,"- terms that focus on physicality rather than personality. There were also several spelling mistakes, and at least one made up word that I was unable to decipher.

Had this not focused on horses, it would've received a far lower rating. The names are lackluster and essentially it's Hogwarts with horses and horse-themed names. I had a similar idea myself when I saw the submission guidelines, and at first I was excited to see someone else thought similarly, but in the end it was a disappointing submission because so much more could've been done with the idea. I think the idea of an equestrian school is marvelous, but this submission is greatly lacking in creativity.

I love the price and supply list. Nice thinking ahead. The names of the houses are very original. I think the overall name of the school is beautiful and very original. Dragonology is a very interesting class. I wouldn't mind taking that! Air Polo? I wanna play!! I love the saftey precautions taken for Air Polo. Very very good school.

#28Tala Fey's AvatarTala Fey (rated this 7)

Well thought through I believe, very horse oriented (obviously) and entertaining, however because it seems very single focused, I do not believe as a student I would like attending unless I was horse crazy.
