She checked her thermostat for the nth time today, ensuring her heat was on. The chill from snow blanketing her house made it especially chilly, with the added wind being the icing on the cake. After seeing the confirmation, she thinks, "Perhaps some hot chocolate will warm me up." (49 words)

This was the most funny weather Tiara had ever seen. The ground was covered in flakes of recent snow, yet the Sun was beating down upon her. Suddenly, the unbearable heat was relieved by a gale of cold wind, as if the elements were fighting each other. (47 words)

Beans have been sent!

This week's words are:

log, Yule, goose

I very carefully set the Yule log on the table, and breathed a happy sigh of relief. All the cooking was finally done; even the darned goose. I had to buy two of them because I burned the first one to a crisp, but don't tell anyone! (47 words)

The day before the Yule Ball, I sat near the fireplace, poking at a smoldering log with the poker. "It's cold, maybe I should not go", I thought, but the real reason was that I was nervous. "Come on", I coaxed myself, and told myself not to be a goose. (50 words)

On Yule night, the family gathered around the crackling fireplace, the logs burning brightly. The wafting smell of the roasted goose fills the air as it cools on the table before the feast. Warmth and laughter beam all around the room, leaving happiness seeded within their hearts. (47 words)

The goose paced carefully around the goslings, protective. Her nest, hidden away under a fallen pine log, gave shelter from the elements and predators. This Yule time, she was ultra careful, knowing that the hunters, some of the predators, were out looking for her and those like her. (48 words)

The children played "Duck, Duck, Goose" out in the snow while Papa showed me how to make our family's Bûche de Noël! Shaped like a Yule log, it's my favorite winter treat. Learning the tricks of this traditional dessert makes the holiday magic crackle in my heart more than ever. (50 words)

Beans have been sent~

Sorry for the delay, folks!

Our last words for December are:
cowboy, loss, fan

She held the fan close to her heart and thought of the cowboy who had given it to her long ago. The loss of him still made her shed a tear or two as she allowed herself to imagine what might have been. (43 words)

She felt the loss of country resistance to heat, using a small fan to regulate her temperature. "See what happens when you spend too long in the city?" the cowboy commented, having not broken a sweat, "Don't worry; you'll get used to it again." (44 words)

The cowboy sat by the empty corral, his dull eyes staring into nothingness. The fan lay idle in his trembling hand, unnoticed, even under the scorching heat from the Sun. Dust swirled around him, reminding him of his loss. He sighed, vowing to rebuild what had been taken from him. (50 words)

The cowboy sat under an oak, mourning the loss of his horse, his equine best friend. Just an hour ago, he had been fanning himself with a leaf fan, as pretty Knightly nibbled the sweet, fresh grass. He still wished he was dreaming and would wake up from the nightmare. (50 words)

Beans are on their way!
But since you didn’t have a full week to complete Emily’s last fabulous prompt, I’m happy to honour any submissions made for the previous lot of words until 6 A.M HOL-time on Monday.
And now, onto the first words for January!

circlet, mask, print

She smoothed her dress with its delicate print of foxglove leaves, adjusted her circlet and gave the ribbons securing her mask a last tug to make sure of the knots. She took a steadying breath. She only had to fool the guests long enough for her to open the gate. (50 words)

The woman adjusted the circlet firmly on her head, her face a mask of composure. in tomorrow's news print, she would be what they wanted her to be-a queen. No matter that she felt anything but queenly inside. No one would ever know. (43 words)

As the painter turned the canvas around for her to see her portrait, she had to mask her horror, forcing a smile. The circlet had been painted crooked, which she knew wasn't as such on her head. Even worse, they had left a print in the wet paint! (48 words)

A circlet of ivy on her head, the fairy was ready for Christmas gathering. She checked her reflection in a dewdrop to ensure that she was looking perfect. Suddenly, a boy wizard wearing a mask and dressed in camouflaging print trapped her in his net to use as Christmas decor. (50 words)

In the foyer, she printed their names (to be legible as compared to using cursive), and then drew a circlet around the whole. She turned to the others. "Time to mask up!". Clad in their finery, they entered the ballroom. (40 words)

A finger print was lifted from the circlet. The only thing left behind, with the only clue toward identifying who intended it to be found. They wore no mask, nor disguise of any kind, yet all who passed by claimed an inability to recollect any part of the person's likeness. (50 words)

Beans are winging their way to writers!

This week's words are...

web, crown, swan

She let her momentum take her in a swooping glide across the ice. She glanced back at the crowd on the shore, certain her swanlike movements would even now be earning her the crown. Crack. She looked down, horrified, at the fissures spreading out in a lethal web. (48 words)

The web of lies had reached the Crown, and they were not amused. The Queen stood staring at the white swan gliding across the pond while she pondered a fitting response to such treachery. “End it…now.” “Yes, my liege.” That is how rebellions end. (44 words)
