How many alarms do you set?

Post by River Fenwick »

You can use multiple devices to set alarms to wake up, from a physical alarm clock to an app on your phone, and you may even opt to choose various of these. Some may say that alarm schedules can tell a lot about a person. So, how many do you set, what frequency do you set them, and on how many devices?

Personally, I set four alarms, one on a physical alarm clock and the other three on my phone, set to 5 minutes apart from the previous one. I often turn off the alarm clock and fall back asleep, hence the abundance of phone alarms since I never want to be late.

I only use one alarm on my phone but I will hit the snooze button on it the three times my phone lets me haha. My phone's alarm does allow for different time intervals for the snooze. Like I can have five, ten, or fifteen minutes between each time the alarm sounds after I snooze it.

I set two alarms every time. If I wanna get up around 7:45am I’d set a 7:43am and 7:44am alarm. That way if one accidentally wasn’t set to the correct AM/PM (or just doesn’t seem to go off, both of which have happened to me more than once) I don’t run the risk of having to stress about it. But normally I wake up before my alarm, so it’s moot, haha.

I use my phone and so what I do is I set up two alarms - one to wake up when I want to still have some time to do some stupid things on my phone before I get up and the second one to let me know that I really need to wake up now (if I went back to sleep).

I usually have two alarms set, one to wake me up so I can hit snooze, the other because I need to get up at that time or I will be rushed.

I have one alarm and for the most part I am awake at least 20 minutes before it goes off. I always set it because I know that if I don't have that alarm set then I will not wake up and miss work. Now if I can just sleep past that time when I don't have to work.

I use to have two alarms. One main and a backup incase I was so tired that I fell asleep again. Now I only have one because my husband also has his own alarm. Making ours together two. I tend to be scared we would both fall asleep again so I get up immediately to make coffee to try and prevent falling asleep again.

I set only one alarm at the time I am supposed to get up, because multiple alarms reinforce the bad habit of snoozing and predispose the natural circadian rhythm towards confusion and subsequent malfunctioning. As Professor Aloyarc said above, sometimes we may set the alarm to the wrong AM/PM and that happens to me as well, but in those cases, well I just wake up late, hahaha! I used to set multiple alarms earlier, but now I don't anymore

I personally have three alarms, all on my phone. Two go off every morning, half an hour apart (so I can fall back asleep between them), and then the third is one I turn on for another half an hour later if I'm particularly tired and am not ready to get up yet after the second one haha

I always set at least five alarms with different intensities of vibration. I'm usually awake by the second or third one. I do need to change the way my alarm vibrates every couple of months because my body gets used to it, and I can oversleep.

I set 1 alarm on my phone (which currently plays the Game of Thrones theme song) and it's set for 15 minute intervals. I usually hit snooze 2 or 3 times before finally admitting defeat and I get up. I've never had a physical alarm and I'm not afraid to admit I wouldn't know how to use it :D

I've had a problem with getting up in the morning ever since I was a teenager. I've tried everything, even those alarm clocks that squirt you with water if you don't turn them off in time. Right now, I set 7-8 alarms, each 5 minutes apart, on my phone, which I put on the opposite side of the room. That forces me to actually get out of bed to turn off the incessant noise. So far, it's been going well, but I imagine one of these days, I'll sleep through all my alarms.
