Modules #1/#5 - “MINGLING” - Spring 2022

[Louis Walles]

Louis arrives rather late as he struggled to find the actual 'room' for the class. It took him a while but everyone got used to the fact that he is always late. After apologising for his lateness and saying hi to everyone, he decides to answer the question for today's lesson.

'Oh well...the castle is truly huge and I am still trying to find my way around it haha' - he said confidently. 'But don't worry guys, I will get there at some point'.

He takes out his water bottle and takes a huge sip. 'For real now. I found this school to be one of the most important things in my life. I love being in here and it provided me with so much opportunities to self-improve and stop being so anti-social.'

Tarma watches gleefully as Louis comes in, but blinks in mild surprise when he says he is 'anti-social'. This is the person who hassled her so much in the Sett when he was first active in there? This is the person full of jokes and tricks and fun?

She laughs. "Louis ... since when have you been anti-social? You've, well, you and Harry, have been creating a ruckus in the Sett as long as you've been in there!"

Louis laughs and looks at Tarma with a big smile 'Well I guess Harry and I went a bit crazy in the Sett haha'. He then continues 'I am a proper introvert, believe it or not. I do enjoy some company here and there but when I am not at work and at home, I am the quiet type. I enjoy some peace and quiet more than actually spending time with people. And I am often the last one to purpose any sort of meeting, even with friends.'

[Prof. Sindor Aloyarc]

Welcoming Louis in with a grin, “Hello, sir!” Sindor claps his hands together and glancing at a muggle made clock in the wall. “Happy to see you, and no trouble at all. We might have another straggler or two coming in yet. These halls really are a bit of a labyrinth at times no matter how many years spent walking them.”

After hearing the response to Tarma, “Oh, I feel you.” Sin chuckles as well. “It’s funny how these things can play out in our lives. Myself, I’m quite decidedly socially extroverted, yet over the years I’ve realized in the same way that there are social-introverts, I’m more of a ‘selectively social’ extrovert. I need quite a fair amount of alone time, but enjoy having company as well and do a lot of external ‘processing’ which certainly helps having the right sort of people around where we ‘fit’ with each other’s vibe and don’t necessarily leave anyone feeling drained!”

Pulling a nearby quill off the floor that must have been dropped, then fiddling the feather, he adds, “Can be quite the fascinating dance sometimes maintaining that energy!”

Louis shakes his head in agreement with what Prof. Sindor said. “This is exactly how I feel sometimes! Although sometimes I feel that engaging with people drains me of the energy as I need to be productive and engaging whenever I am around people”. He reaches for his water bottle and takes another big sip of water.

[Emily Spencer]

Emily raises her mug of tea in a silent salute to Louis, accompanied by a smile.

"Well hello there, you! I'm so glad you could join us."

She takes another sip of tea before continuing, sighing in contentment.

"I do love a good cuppa! Anyway, I can totally understand about the introverted personality. Even though you may see me everywhere around the castle, I am actually quite the introvert. I've gotten better over the years, but if left to my own devices, I can be a virtual hermit!"

'Also, I have a very limited social circle. I am friendly to all people...well, most people...and so a lot can think I have plenty and plenty of friends. But this is not true really. I literally have three friends, whom I know since I was 12 and that's it. I did have other friends in my life but as always, they come and go. But I don't regret it. Now I can see how toxic these people were in my life' says Louis.

He opens his mouth as if he wants to share more but he closes his mouth. He waits patiently to see what others will say.

Emily nods her head at Louis and offers a quick smile.

"I can understand that sentiment totally. You know, I've had friendships that I cherished that I've had to eventually let go of when I realized how toxic they actually were. Sad really", she shrugs, "But that's life, I suppose."

Louis looks at Emily with deep understanding and shakes his head in disbelief.

'I just can't believe that some people can be as toxic for us. Especially people who we think are our friends. I am still in process of healing from one toxic friendship that has recently ended. Although, that person had the audacity to come back into my life a few days ago'. Louis makes a disgusted face. 'Some people are awful, really'.

[Prof. Maxim Trevelyan]

Maxim mostly stays quiet during the conversation, still embroiled in thought from Sindor’s explanation and Emily’s input.

He grimaces when the topic touches on toxic relationships, but offers no further opinion, as most of his views were already shared between the students and teachers. Those kind of bonds are never worth pursuing or holding onto.

Sighing, Maxim jots down last few words on the parchment and takes another sip of the goodness that is his drink. He closes his eyes and lets the conversation flow through him, while still keeping and ear our for his name or any additional open questions that may come up.
