The theatre patrons held a collective breath as they watched the man pour ink over precious paintings and rare chess pieces. They say reality is stranger than fiction, and it proved to be true. Forget the play; the drama unfolding before them was much more exciting! (46 words)

theatre, chess piece, ink

The chess piece, a pawn, cheerfully rolled in the spilled ink and then, sprouting two very short legs, gleefully ran across the theatre floor, leaving tiny foot prints in her wake. [32 words]

This week's words are: inspiration, dice, secret

On a chilly night, several guild members shuffled secretively into a small room. After the preliminaries were over and they were seated, one person threw some dice from his pocket across the table. Another read the portents from a worn book, inspiring a new Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

Finding the gold dice in her father's things was the inspiration for her new career. Obviously, it was important; he had kept it hidden away in secret. The inscription of "Never again" on it only deepened the mystery. Nurse by choice, but now detective by need. Let the sleuthing commence! (50 words)

Her goal, as she saw it, was to switch what was regarded as mythology to being regarded as real. Dragons were real … and so were Nifflers. [27 words]

Popular mythology tells us that the goal of the hero is to be the savior. What if we were to switch that around and have the "hero" being the one causing the destruction and the perceived "villain"really be the good guy? Plot twist, for the win! (49 words)

Disproving mythology had never been his goal. He probed and scoffed, countered every argument with the devil's advocate and reality's cold truth. But he would gladly switch to believing in fairy tales and urban myths. Anything to prove that his love was still here, just hidden. (46 words)

The middle of the month brings these words:

bear, sunset, witch

The witch perched on the branch until after sunset. While she was pretty sure the bear was gone, and had been gone for a few hours, she'd wanted to wait for a couple more hours before climbing down from the tree. Who knew that getting honey would be so dangerous? [50 words]

The bear sat all day beneath the tree, patiently watching the old witch . At sunset, it was time to make his move. Stealthily he crept toward the cabin and with a loud RAAAWWR attacked the pies cooling on the windowsill. Yum! Job well done! (50 words)

Our new words:

spider, rose, deer

The moon rose, full and bright. It illuminated the pine standing in the meadow, a chance beam highlighting a deer sheltering under the tree's branches. It also shone silvery bright on the spider's web, woven into the shape of a rose. [41 words]

The spider spun a rose-shaped web around the branch; its every move being watched by the nearby deer. Two forest creatures, both majestic in their own right, nodded in greeting. Nature's harmony was in perfect, rare, balance; Mother Nature laughed in delight. (48 words)

Our last words for December, and for the year -

north, sneakers, apple

He tossed the apple into the air, caught it, and crunched down into it. Looking into the night sky, he checked the map – yep, they had to continue North. Pivoting on his new sneakers, he glanced at the others. “Let's go!” [42 words]

Heading north, munching noisily on an apple, the boy ambled down the path, waving to everyone he saw. He was very proud of his new sneakers, and wanted to make sure that everyone saw them. He had never had new shoes before; it was a Christmas he would remember forever. (50words)

Apologies for the delay... here are this week's words: dice, arrow, ship.

The ship sailed straight as an arrow into the next region, nearing the highly sought-after treasure. The captain sat back in his seat, relieved his dice roll satisfied the movement requirements for such treacherous waters, much to the dismay of his fellow boardgamers.

dice, arrow, ship.

Mat looked lugubriously at the small objects in front of him. “Time to toss the dice” he announced to the rest of his shipmates. He did, and it was sixes. The ship quivered and shook, and took off like an arrow, heading North. [43 words]
