Here you can post your results of the personality test. Remember it is worth 10 points of your Assignnment 2:

Taken from the website:

When you are done, head to our Class Forum (Click to go to the forum) and share your results with the rest of the class. Comment them answering the following questions:

*Which was the type of personality that you got?
*Do you agree or disagree with your results? Why?
* Which aspects of YOUR personality do you think were missing in the characteristics of the personality that you got?
* Look at the suggested careers that your type of personality has. Do you like them or not? Which one is your favorite? Are you willing to research more about the other careers or not?
* Any other thought that you wish to share with us is very welcome!

I have decided to take the personality test twice: both in and out of character. (I believe that Prof. Flores is most familiar with me in character as that is how I entered Mx HOL. For orientation purposes: out of character, I am a mathematically-trained professional in my mid-thirties who spent his youth moving around like crazy but has since settled down in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I believe that my in-character personality, which is more relevant to this class, is essentially a younger, idealized version of my out-of-character personality, so I will answer the questions primarily in-character).

OUT OF CHARACTER: ENTJ; "Extravert(12%) iNtuitive(50%) Thinking(16%) Judging(12%)" (the E, T, and J are "slight preference"; the N is "moderate preference")
IN CHARACTER: ENTJ; "Extravert(75%) iNtuitive(50%) Thinking(28%) Judging(22%)" (the E is "strong preference"; the N and T are "moderate preference"; the J is "slight preference")

I was not surprised at all to get ENTJ when taking the test, though I was surprised that my E score was as strong as it was. The type description seems to fit me perfectly: a key features of the self-description, "natural tendency to marshall and direct", would make absolute sense to everyone who has played Quidditch with me or seen me interact as Prefect (though it often leads to power struggles when interacting with those ranked above me). "The bent to plan creatively and make these plans reality" fits with my tendency for innovation (even as an "Ancient Twenty-Eight" pureblood). Being "larger than life", persuasive, and charismatic fits well with my ideals as well, though I wish I was even more charismatic so that people would naturally want to follow me! The description of being "decisive", "argumentative by reflex", and having an "icy gaze" sounds almost like the creator of the test knows me personally... for better or for worse.

About the only thing 'missing' in my personality from this description is the ability to learn quickly... but it's not like the test said I can't learn quickly, for that matter! (What it did said about how I learn - that I value what I can learn when the knowledge helps me solve a problem... and that I learn easier when things are presented in the right theoretical framework... does fit me perfectly, though.)

The list of careers given seem to have an emphasis on management, which fits well with my instincts and desires for leadership. (Out of character, I will even refer to my time on HOL as "leadership practice" that I can take with me into my out-of-character life!) Unfortunately the careers stated are all very Muggle-influenced, which is not a good fit for my character at all. In character, I'd say my favorite career is politics as it's where I'd have the strongest influence (maybe a high-ranking position at the Ministry... but not a figurehead position like Cornelius Fudge held as Minister of Magic, or Dolores Umbridge's Senior Undersecretary position for that matter). Out of character, computer science and software engineering best fits my mathematical skillset, but a management role in a non-bureaucratic structure (i.e. where I can make my own decisions) sounds very tempting too. I'd be willing to research the other jobs, though; after all, I might find a perfect fit that I hadn't thought of before!

INFJ
Introvert(6%) iNtuitive(31%) Feeling(19%) Judging(19%)

Only the INTUITIVE part had a moderate ranking, the others were slight. It makes me wonder...if I had answered one (or a few) questions a little differently, would the result be different?

Reading the description from the lesson about INFJ I am inclined to agree. I'm not surprised with the result. At first I felt there were a few types that I could fall into and a few others that I felt were not me at all. I definitely look for originality and have been told I am quiet but powerful many times. :) I have to agree with the desire to have a meaningful career. I do have firm values and will not cease to defend them.

One of the things I think is missing for me is the fast-paced environment. I like to live and work in a non-routine setting ad non-stop city. I have no problem with adapting quickly wither. Also I love action and adventure and chase thrills. This wasn't reflected in the INFJ description but it's a huge part of my social life and leisure activities.

As far as the suggested careers go...I wasn't crazy about them. My favorite of the bunch would have to be healer. I've had no desires to be a professor, caretaker, musician or artist. I feel more suited for the careers under INTP and INTJ. So I will likely pursue one of those: Arithmancer, Astronomer, Herbologist, Potioneer, Wandmaker, Magizoologist. Although Healer did appear on these lists too so maybe that is worth looking in to. Interestingly enough, INFJ are known as "The Protectors" which fits a job I currently have working for Magical Law Enforcement.

(As a note, this and pretty much everything you'll see from me are fully in-character, if I didn't state it before this)

Extravert(12%) Intuitive(35%) Feeling(41%) Perceiving(12%)

It would seem, according to this test, that I'm considered an "inspirer." I snorted a bit at first when I read that, finding it a rather odd term. However, as I read into it, I found myself a bit more agreeable. Inspirers are improvisational and driven to assist others as well as disgusted by routine and monotony, much like myself. Extroversion: I live in the world around me, rather than in my own head or in a book. I don't close myself off from the world, but rather let it soak into me and guide me. This ties into my Inuition, which I perceive as being my Inner Eye -- I'm unsurprised by the margin in which this is ruling me over sensory input. As for Feeling, I do suppose that I am prone to empathy and compassion for others, as ill-suited as it may be for a Slytherin. And for the last one, Perceiving, that's simple and stated previously: I hate routine. I need something exciting and surprising in my life.

As for what this evaluation of my personality is missing, I suppose the most obvious would be my knack for trouble. I hate normalcy and strive to break the cycle with extraordinary things, for ill or good -- stars, that's lining up with the whole thing about perceiving, isn't it? Perhaps I was incorrect. I'm unsure what the test is missing, to be terribly honest with you. Perhaps it's my hard-working nature that's left out? It is only the first day and I've already finished at least this assignment and the last, after all.

For occupations, they recommend something like a journalist or writer or even a professor: I'm uncertain any of these things would truly suit me, except perhaps becoming a professor someday. I intend fully on becoming a Seeress, though I could see myself teaching that to others one day.

I suppose that concludes this assignment for the time being. This truly has been rather thought-provoking thus far.

I got ENFJ (Extravert(44%) iNtuitive(12%) Feeling(16%) Judging(38%)). I am not surprised at all with the results, though they sometimes fluctuate between ENFJ and ENFP. But for posterity, I will go with ENFJ, since this is what I got on the site provided to us.

I quite agree with the results of the test. They describe be quite well, especially my ability to juggle a great number of responsibilities and projects, which keep piling on and on. Other characteristics are organization, decisiveness, global learners, appreciation of people, neglecting themselves to a fault, taking on a lot of burdens, and other. I think that only thing that does not fit me is the emphasis on the feelings. While that is partly true for me as well, I do not think that my decisions are based on emotions, or at least as based as the test says, since I try to keep a rational mind while making decisions, from everyday ones to those that can affect your life in a significant way. I cannot really recall any big personality traits that are missing from the results, actually, at least not any that immediately come to mind.

The careers for my type of personality are Social Services (Counseling, Psychology, Social Work and Education), Technical/Science (Science and Computer Science and Software Engineering), and Management (Management, Fashion Merchandising and Politics). I was most surprised by Technical/Science section and Fashion Merchandising. The former because I am not the best with computers. I know how to do basic things and video games, but greater details escape me. While fashion never interested me so I never gave a second thought that it might be perfect for my personality type.

I think the best career for me is Education. While it is not my primary choice I was an assistant in few classes, sometimes even taking on the load of a professor. I quite liked the experience and I am wavering between teaching and the direction I am going in now. Fun fact, other careers provided, notably psychology and counseling, I have thought about before settling on the path I am on now.

I tested as an ISFJ (Introvert (47%) sensing (25%) feeling (43%) judging (6%)). According to the test I have moderate preferences of introversion, sensing, and feeling while a slight preference of judging. I have to say I mostly agree with the assessment, although I feel some of the descriptors are a bit extreme. And yet I can also see them applying in various situations. One example would be the description that I would be unsatisfied with a traditional give and take relationship. Although I agree that I can be a bit lenient with my dealings with those close to me I have my limits and will not cross them. Another example would be the loyalty description. Part of me thinks that I would not leave a situation solely based upon loyalty of others. And yet I am aware that I can be influenced by people’s experiences and their reaction would play a major part in my decision to stay or go. The descriptor that I agree with most would be how uncomfortable I would be in a supervisory role, the mere thought of doing so sends a shiver of foreboding down my spine and gives me the beginnings of a headache. I would spend the entire time second guessing every single decision I make which would add additional stress to the work.
Careers listed for the type of personality I received are teaching, social work, religious work, nursing, medicine (general practice) clerical, secretarial, and some kinds of administrative careers. However, I am not interested in teaching, religious work, nursing, and medical work. I have seven plus nieces and nephews and I live with four and counting, I am well aware that I have neither the patience or drive to pursue a career in education. Although I am lax about my views on religion I have not found a calling for one and would not want to work in an environment to promote something I did not personally believe in myself. As for the medical careers, I lack the passion for it and would probably burn out before too long. I have done some secretarial work and administrative work and don’t mind it too much. As for the social work option, I thought about it a long time ago, but some events caused me to look in other directions. I wouldn’t mind looking into it, but doubt anything would come of it.

I got INFJ (Introvert-59%, iNtuitive-47%, Feeling-22%, Judging-12%)

It’s very true with my personality. I get told all the time how I’m really extroverted, when I’m actually dying inside because I would rather be curled up alone with my cat and good book. I may know a lot of people, it happens, but I’m very selective of who gets to be in my ‘inner circle’. There’s about…five? Maybe six that I’m really close to. There’s been times where I’ve been around too many people for too long a time and have shut myself away in my room for a few days, refusing to communicate with anyone other than to let them know I didn’t die. (My mother requests a weekly update to my living status.)

The only thing I think it’s really missing is my love for adventure. A conundrum I know. I love to go on explorations and adventures to places. Road trips, concerts, etc. I love it. I have a deep seeded wanderlust. However, I also need a day to recoup from said adventures once I’m home.

It says to go into Social Work or Education, especially that with children. I have worked in fields of this before. I was a Youth Treatment Specialist with a residential treatment facility for troubled youth. I worked with kids ranging from 6-21. I assisted them in learning good coping skills, communication, self-care, and helped them with their school work as well. It was my favorite job I’ve ever had. It didn’t pay all that well, but I was rewarded in so many other ways. To see those kiddos grow and become healthier, happier, more stable versions of themselves, to be part of that process…it’s indescribable. I loved it. I hated having to leave it. I’d say it definitely knew what careers to point me toward.
