Submit to the Very First Issue

Post by Prof. Sky Alton »

Welcome to HOL's very own newspaper, The Howler!

The theme for our very first issue will be: Bright Lights
Deadline for submissions: Wednesday 20th of October

So do you have an idea for an article, or maybe even a column? Perhaps you've got a concept for the perfect ad. Or maybe you are just itching to flex your creative muscles with a spot of writing or by creating a work of art. Well, you are in the right place!

Approval
All ideas for informative articles, Wizarding World News, opinion pieces, ads and puzzles must be approved before they are submitted.
Submissions to the creative showcase on the other hand don't need to be approved - you can just submit those once you're ready. That includes entries for the current Creative Contest

If what you want to write needs to be approved, all you have to do is post your idea(s) below and wait for one of the Howler's editors to approve it. It will then be added to the list below. Please be patient though; we will get to you as quickly as possible, but it may sometimes take a while.

Theme
Creative Showcase pieces must fit the theme whereas other submissions don't have to (but it's great if they do). Entries to the Creative Contest must fit the guidelines provided with each particular contest.

Idea Bank
If you don't have any ideas, we have curated an Idea Bank where you can go to find ideas for articles and ads. Please remember that even idea bank ideas have to be presented here for approval though (so we don't suddenly have ten articles on the same topic!).

Requirements and Submitting
For more information and guidelines on our various sections, what types of submissions you might submit and what the requirements for each one are, please read through the overview thread and then head over to the Guidelines section to learn more.

Once your idea has been approved, you can send your submission through this form.

We are very excited to hear from you all!

I'd like to write informative articles about the following:
The brightest objects in the night sky
Night light pollution
Greenwich time and the establishment of timezones

(but if someone else wants to write about one of those then I don't mind :D, if so, I'd like to write about the "Muggle farmer stumbles across ashwinder eggs" idea instead)

I would like to write an article including a good message as well as an incident that happened in the wizarding world.

Incident: One of the workers in the Ministry of Magic has been confronted with a serious accident and no one but only a little witch from Hogwarts came to help.

Message: Not only that witch had power and knowledge, but also humanity. The feeling of Humanity combined with the deep emotions of love.

I believe such a combination created upon this article would give the readers a wonderful time reading it.

Hi Maxim. The Ad, puzzle and article (which I've called informative for now but which can be moved to opinion if it turns into more of a review) are all approved. We'll be in touch about the column soon and the contest entry doesn't need to be approved. :)

I’d love to submit an Informative Article on the HOL Zodiac to be used as a more efficient/helpful reference point for readers of my Column over time.

Would also like to create a graphic for both the article and the column if I may.

Reminder that you have just over a week to submit to this issue of The Howler!

It's not too late to get an article, an ad or a puzzle approved or even to submit an application for a column. There's also our Creative Showcase and this issue's Creative Contest to get stuck into which don't need to be approved.

Help us make this first issue something spectacular!
