Class Assistant Want Ads Spring Term 2022

Post by Prof. Rorey Padfoot »

You MUST read THIS POST and THIS POSTbefore continuing on... And like REALLY read it because it's updated with new information for this year!

Professors; do you have a class that you would like some help in? Students; have you ever wanted to help with a class to get the experience and knowledge of what it's like? Well here is your chance.
Since class applications have now begun, I was thinking maybe some Professors or Student Teachers would be in need of an assistant for their classes, but don't know who to ask. Here is a easy and hopefully simple way to find help for your class.

If you are a Professor or Student Teacher looking for a class assistant I, Prof. Rorey Padfoot, can help you sift through resumes. Prospective assistants will fill out an application and I will post it in this thread for you to view. Once you have decided on an assistant for your class please HOL Message me (not through the forum) and I will remove their name from the application list. You may contact the applicant yourself if you have questions or you would like to personally offer them the position, but I do ask that once they have accepted your offer, you let me know as well.

For those of you that would like to apply to be an assistant here is the plan, students who are looking for a class to assist will need to HOL Message me
(PLEASE DO NOT PM ME ON THE BOARD) with the following application:

Class Assistant Application:

1. HOL Name:
2. Year:
3. Your Time Zone:
4. Positions held, past and present, at HOL (ie. Student, Student Teacher, Prefect, Head Student, etc.) LIST ALL THAT APPLY:
5. How many (if any) classes are you helping with currently?
6. How much time do you have to spend helping out a class? (ie. Days a week, mornings only, evenings only, weekends only, etc.)
7. Outside of classes what else are you involved in at HOL/House Duties?
8. Are you comfortable with mIRC?
9. Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you feel you would make an awesome class assistant.

Feel free to give me a color you would like your application to be. ;)

Remember you can jazz it up to make it your own, but all the questions need to be answered before your application will be posted. After you have filled the application out completely, I will review it and post it in this thread. I will be closing the thread after every post as to not create too much talking/spamming in it. It does need to be easy to read for your prospective employer you know? ;)

Now to help the process run a bit more smoothly there are prerequisites for the students who wish to send me their application.

* The student must not exceed helping in three (3) classes. I will be checking your file. :P
* Students must have completed AT LEAST one term (earned two quills) to be eligible to apply
* Student must realize not everyone will be chosen to be an assistant
* You can only teach classes and have no assistants and be an assistant yourself or teach and have assistants for your class, but not be an assistant for other classes.

I think that about does it. If you have any questions please feel free to HOL message me.
Happy Hunting!

1. HOL Name: Violet Sutton
2. Year: 01
3. Your Time Zone:
4. Positions held, past and present, at HOL (ie. Student, Student Teacher, Prefect, Head Student, etc.) None
5. How many (if any) classes are you helping with currently? None
6. How much time do you have to spend helping out a class? (ie. Days a week, mornings only, evenings only, weekends only, etc.) I am free both on Weekdays and weekends. I am available for HOL responsibilities for about 8 - 10 hours per week. I usually check HOL daily.
7. Outside of classes what else are you involved in at HOL/House Duties? I do write articles for the Howler.
8. Are you comfortable with mIRC? Yes, of course. I usually chat there once or twice a week.
9. Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you feel you would make an awesome class assistant.

I am Violet Sutton. I love reading books, Writing, Literature, Physics and Mathematics, and nature. Reading and writing books helps me to concentrate my mind, while so does nature. I always like helping people, regardless of their social status. I always strive to put justice first, considering the points, observations, and conclusions properly.

I honestly have a hard time trying to find out what my personality is. I know that a lot of people tell me that I am rather straightforward, and love creating things. I agree with them a lot actually. I know that I try new things a lot and such. I am rather outgoing and really really sweet towards people as well as helpful and have a flexible attitude of personality towards people. I tend to be protective over friends, and family.

I have always been protective over people just ever since I have met friends. I know that I feel like I can go overboard at times, and I am trying to work on that actually! I really know how to manage my time a lot of times, and will be able to meet deadlines. I know that I am rather calm at times, and not very outgoing like I said above. I tend to be very organized with a lot of my stuff. I know that I have this notion app on my computer that reminds me when jobs are due, as well as University work. I always do my IRL work first and then my jobs! If needed I will take a break from jobs to work on my main work or health.

I really love to write books. They might be a bit strange and whatnot, but there is something about them that I love doing! The creativity that you are able to put into them as well as the ideas that you can have are endless. It’s like your dreams of something are coming true on the page.

First of all, a Class Assistant should be being open-minded. Having an open mind means you can see the world from different perspectives and can understand others. I believe I have this, because I know who am I, and know how others like to be treated.

Class Assistants must be creative. They should be able to give new ideas and inspire the fellow workers to grade as many assignments as they can. As I mentioned earlier, I have creativity, and am good at brainstorming people to explore new ideas and try them no matter they will be successful or not. Trying is the key to success, after all!

Moreover, Class Assistants must have the ability to accept criticism and improve their work ethic. If you don't know where you do wrong, you can never reach success. I believe I am always mindful when working, but that doesn't mean I am all perfect, I may receive criticism for the mistakes I make, and I am always up to admit them fairly and in pleasure to improve my work ethic and please everyone else.

Class Assistants must always have patience. Assignments aren't something that can be dealt with right away! I am always patient when adjusting different things and correct something when I see needs to be and am not in hesitance to re-do the whole thing repeatedly until I do what is expected! I want something to be done correctly and fully within the given time.

Many people say that I am quite mature, and I have managed to handle conflicts between those around me to varying degrees of success. Although conflict does make me feel uncomfortable at times, I am certain that I can handle it with grace and patience. I have had several people come to me when they feel the need to speak, and been told that I am a good listener. Often, I am aware of what I have done wrong and do not make excuses for that, rather owning up to it.

Time management is probably one of my key strengths, and I usually get things done when or before they have to. Most of the time, I write a to-do list or record things that need to be done in my planner so I know when something is due. I like getting things done ahead of time so that I do not later stress out. When it comes to working, I may procrastinate sometimes, but I always get my head back into the game quickly. Procrastination isn't something common to me, but rather rare which arises when I am under stress. You can count on me to get things done, and deadlines are a huge help for me. In fact, I prefer having a deadline so that I have no doubt about when something is due and constantly worry about not getting something done on time.

Amongst my major strengths, this is a major of major strength, which is my organization skills. Many have commented on them, and I believe that they would be advantageous should I receive the position as an Editor. I’m good at keeping things in check and ensuring that they do not get out of hand. I am able to set deadlines for myself as well as follow them successfully. A method I use to keep things organized is to write to-do lists and check them regularly to ensure I do not fall behind.

Another one of my traits is that I am quite a hard-working person. This proves especially true when it is for something I enjoy doing, but I put effort into everything anyways. I hold high standards for myself and my work, which is why I often spend time and invest effort in things that need to be done. Give me something to do, and you’ll be sure to receive my 100%.

I am quite a reliable person, and I think that my wish to not disappoint people plays into this. If you need something is done, which is within my ability, I will get it done. I am also a person of my word, so if I promise you something, then I will end up doing whatever is involved in the promise. You can count on me, whether work-related or not.

From personal experience, I can tell you that I do like to help people. Whatever the matter is, if it is within my ability, I will try to help someone. However, I must clarify that I always strive to put justice in the first place, as mentioned previously. I'm not quite sure why I enjoy it; if it's the feeling of happiness by helping someone or that I get to help someone when they need it. Either way, I'm quite willing to do so and will, if you ask.

Another key trait of mine is that I believe to be a strength is the fact that I take responsibility for my actions. If I have done something wrong or caused something bad to happen, I will own up to it and face any due penalties without complaint. I’d like to say that I have integrity, which sort of plays into this. I know when I have committed a wrong and will not be afraid to speak up about it.

One thing that I think is a strength of mine is that I take initiative. Whenever I know something needs to be done, I usually don’t wait until I am told to do so and just do it ahead of time. I also take action in doing things rather than just reacting and leaving it be. Essentially, I do things that need to be done of my own accord without the need to be told explicitly.

According to these qualities, strengths and behavior patterns, I believe I would make a fine Class Assistant meeting the requirements expected.
