A few moderator spots have opened up for forums or subforums in the ‘Student Lounge’ section of the forum. We’d like to hear from any member of the community, regardless of year or experience, who might be interested in volunteering their time to help out. Please read this post very thoroughly before applying.
Moderators are in charge of making sure an individual forum is kept tidy, active and a place where everyone can come together to discuss their interests. It’s a responsible position which takes enthusiasm, creativity, patience, organisation and knowledge of the HOL rules.
To make sure a forum is in the best hands possible, we have certain expectations of our moderators that need to be met:
- 1. You should post a new topic at least once a month (though more often if you can). These topics should be inviting and encourage people to discuss or share experiences.
- 2. Occasionally, you should revive older topics by replying to them.
- 3. You should clean up your forum by deleting old, inactive or outdated topics where needed.
- 4. You should keep an eye on your forum to ensure nobody is spamming and also to ensure that posts comply with the HOL rules: refer anything that worries you to a staff member.
Keep in mind that we unfortunately won’t be able to choose everyone who applies. We also have a very limited number of spots available for specific forums; this means that even if you’re successful, there’s no guarantee you’ll be assigned to one of the forums you mention in your form. If you’re unsuccessful this time round, know that we truly appreciate you offering your time. We’ll be keeping applications on file and might be in touch next time a post opens up.
If you have any further questions, please ask one of the Head Students (Sky Alton or Polaris Black). We look forward to hearing from you!
