Supposedly, there are eleven 'Great' Wizarding Schools in the world. We know about eight of them. They cover nearly all continents, with some having more schools (Europe) than others (Africa). I always thought it was kind of weird that Europe has at least three of these Great schools, four if you count Russia, while the largest continent only has one. I'd think it would be the other way around.
What do you think about the current distribution of the wizarding schools? Where do you think other wizarding schools are? Which locations do they cover?
For example, I think Australia should at least have one or two wizarding schools, and could accept students from New Zealand and the rest of Oceania.

Re: Other Wizarding Schools
With the history between a lot of countries, I believe there are so many more magical schools. Like the only magical school in Asia is in Japan. Which means all of the Asian countries would have to send their children to that one. With the animosity between China and Japan even in more recent history, this idea would cause a lot of problems. Durmstrang only accepts purebloods. Which means that any half-blood or muggleborn students would have to go to another school (most likely Beauxbatons). I honestly don't think this is feasible because that means every non-pureblooded student on the continent would have to go there since Hogwarts only accepts students who live in the Great Britain and Ireland. That's a lot of students going to one school!
Personally, I think every country has at least one magical school of their own though parents have the option of sending their child(ren) to another "bigger" school if they want to though (and if they were allowed to). Also in all honesty, I think JKR had three in Europe for the Triwizard Tournament but then forgot about the rest of the world until asked, then just stuck some around the world.

I mostly agree with Anne-Marie on this topic, especially when she talks about the inconveniences presented by the less number of schools, and what happened with J. K. Rowling there. I also agree that there is possibly at least one magical school in every country, but I think that the magical schools around the world are not aware of each other's existence except for the ones J.K. Rowling mentioned. Magic in different countries has different flavors, for e.g. the genie inside the magic lamp in Arab countries, and there is no way that these are not taught to the native witches and wizards. Hogwarts may be the most famous and most standardized magical school there is, but there are certainly other magical schools all over the world, at least one in each sizeable country.

I most definitely agree with this. Especially since I come from Africa and Uganda is really far away from my Country in Africa. It would make sense for there to be more. I also agree with Anne-Marie about the animosity between countries and how that would effect so many things including countries wanting to open up their own schools so their children don't have to go to these other countries. Especially with the massive amount of animosity between African Countries too. It would make sense for Australia and NZ as well, as Janne pointed out. JKR probably didn't think about it and most likely just kind of added it as an after thought when asked because I do think it wouldn't be to hard to add more context and schools in places that makes sense if some more thought went into it.
