The fairy smiled at the man's approach, the breaking dawn making a splendid backdrop for their final meeting. "We knew this day would come; growing up means our friendship is now forbidden per my father's decree.", she said sadly. "Build a good life, Thomas, and remember me fondly." (48 words)

"We've got a midnight fairy, a midday fairy and a dusk fairy!" he muttered, rebelliously. "Why do we need to have a dawn fairy?" he snorted, outrage building as he quaffed his coffee. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he left their treehouse, to go sprinkle fairy dust. (48 words)

Hearing the child stir awake, the tooth fairy gasped and quickly hid underneath the bed, holding her breath. Maybe she shouldn't have gone to collect teeth at dawn. "Phew," she sighed as the child fell back into a dream. She fled from the building unseen, another tooth in her collection. (50 words)

Our final words for this month are...
mountain, note, shield

There was a note stuck under the jeep’s windscreen wipers: “Have an ace first day. T X”
Smiling, she slipped it into her pocket. She gazed at the national park’s shield on her bumper and raised her chin, then climbed into the car and set off for the mountains. (59 words)

Having decided to take the scenic route this year, he drove along the mountain, soaking in the sights. Ahead, he takes note of a viewing station to visit on his way back. As the sun slowly rises, he puts the sun visor down to shield his eyes from its rays. (50 words)

Tamara sighed heavily as she continued her trek up the slippery mountain slope. As courier for King Dragmir of Eldoria, she had the unenviable task of delivering a note to the Dragon Queen, Cashmira. She shielded herself from the biting wind as best she could and smiled grimly. “Lucky me!” (50 words)

Duncan studies the crest on the shield currently being presented to him. He takes note of the mountain ranges making up the background and the raging boar in the foreground. "This will do nicely," he affirms, taking up the shield, now ready to defend his new kingdom. (47 words)

He took note of the sleeping dragon's every breath as it laid still, its body stretching across the mountain. With a group of sticks he used as a shield, he brisk-walked as silently as possible, holding his breath as he attempted to get out of the situation fast. (48 words)

Marie trudged up the mountain with a note in her hand for the snow queen. In the midst of her painful trek, appeared a mischievous giant who attempted to hurl a boulder at her. Marie immediately pulled out her wand, cast a charm, and conjured an invisible shield around herself. (50 words)

The fish raised its shield and headed off towards the mountains. She thought it rather difficult, if not impossible, to follow the directions on the note, especially since she didn't have feet or arms, but oh, well, 'the difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer' ... A knight trekked over mountains, hoping to find a mighty shield. As he arrived at a nearby village, he found a note pinned to a tree: "Out to lunch - shield’s at the blacksmith's. Back at 2."

Our first words for November are:
Cauldron, strand, moon

She stirred the cauldron carefully, watching a strand of silver bubble on the surface. Looking up at the moon, she prayed to whatever gods were listening that this worked or she would be cursed forever. (35 words)

It was time for the final ingredient: a single strand of her victim's hair. She plucks it from his stolen hairbrush and plops it into the cauldron. The love potion can only be brewed during a full moon, so she had to finish it tonight. (45 words)

A strand of slimy, gooey, silvery potion glistened in the light of the full moon, as it overflowed over the edge of the cauldron. The witch stirred the potion twice, and said, "It looks like my mischief is ready." (39 words)

Weaving the strands of light from the moon required a certain amount of patience and imagination. So beautiful, yes, and worth the time. Finally, the fabric of light was woven, though, and the crystal cauldron had a lovely new altar cloth. (41 words)

They swirled around the garden happily, crooning the words to A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love. The moon shines brightly, casting a soft glow on their features. When they finally slow, the shorter one reaches up to tuck a strand of hair behind her partner's ear.

Under a dim moon, she sat by the cauldron on the desolate strand. Waves whispered memories he left behind, each one an echo in the silence. She stirred, hoping his face would rise in the smoke, but only shadows came, fading with the tide, leaving her alone in the dark.

The words for this week are:
Mask, flower, question

Slipping on her mask, the girl picked up a single long-stemmed rose and held it close to her heart. Laying the flower back down, she already knew the answer to his unasked question. No one would ever know her true identity, not even Charles. Marriage was not in her cards.

A lady in a mask approached the garden and picked a single flower. Lifting it to her nose, inhaling its scent, she asked, "The first batch this season?" The gardener stared in response to the weird question. In answer, the Iady unmasked, making the gardener ecstatically bow to the queen. (50 words)

He talked to his client and answered her questions and concerns about treating her garden's weeds. He wore the respiratory mask to spray herbicide in the flower beds, expertly avoiding the plants. Once finished, he collected the payment, even getting a tip, and left for his next job. (48 words)
