Re: Super Bowl LII

I've never understood the hype of the Super Bowl because I personally don't like sporting events when I don't support any of the teams involved - with relatively few exceptions. (In fact I don't like watching games of teams I do support if I think they're going to lose... just doesn't feel worth it!...

January Prompt: From Beginning to End

Can you believe we're already in 2021? As much as we'd like to move deeper into the year, we have to start the year at the beginning and move through the year, from beginning to end. Your task this month is to write at least 75 words that reflect the theme of "progress: from beginning to end" or "st...

Re: Return

One of the most pronounced return scenes that I can think of takes place at the end of The Hobbit , where the hobbit Bilbo Baggins returns from his adventure back to Bag End in the Shire. Even if Bilbo's reputation had suffered among his own kind due to his adventure, I would say that he qualifies a...

Re: Initiation

In Ready Player One , the Ultimate Boon for Wade Watts (alias Parzival) is the Easter egg hidden by the deceased businessman James Halliday. The reason this egg was so important was due to the conditions of Halliday's will: whoever was able to retrieve the egg by completing a set of challenges impos...

Re: Departure

The clearest example of Refusal of the Call I can think of is from Simba's journey in The Lion King (1994 movie). After Simba's childhood friend and future wife, Nala, informed him of the situation back on Pride Rock, Nala lets Simba know that he is the rightful king and should reclaim his throne fr...

Re: What's your boggart?

How long ago did I take Scarlet's class? Has to be at least four or five years ago by now... and then, I told her that my boggart was the following: Therefore, my boggart will likely take the form of a worn-down future version of myself in his mid-thirties or so. This future Will will have so much w...

Re: What character would you be?

Often, the character I feel the most like is Regulus Black - for the decisions he made, the tough balance he had to strike, and his heroic sacrifice. That said, I'm not sure I'd want to die young at all... but maybe I could be a post-war Rodolphus Lestrange?

December Prompt: Returning of Light

November has turned to December; winter is at hand. But even as the days continue to get colder, there are already signs that light and warmth will return with the spring. Indeed, by the end of December (assuming you're in the Northern Hemisphere like you would be at Hogwarts itself), you will notic...

Re: Kestnaʃ?

I have a question about the first assignment. Do we have to answer everything in Parseltongue because I wasn't sure and I'm having a big problem with translating my sentences. Or do we just have to use yes and no in parseltongue and English to reword the statement? In the "Sa or Ʃe?" section, the o...
